i didnt know what had happened on such a good day. out at the tampines trail, i went for a spin with a fellow kaki. oh crap. mud. i thought as i jumped over the first hill. oh the trouble of having to wash my bike again. damn. now here comes old soft sand trap round teh 2nd hill. i was tempted not to apply my brakes but it was to risky as i was on the edge of the trail. i applied it once. and once again. yes! i;ve conqured it. now on with the jumps. the 3rd and 4th were high peaks and much speed was lost overcoming them. the 2nd turn was a high speed cornering one. it felt like heaven speeding and turning so delicately and finely at the same time. now is the time to jump and get airbourne!! the 4th peak was also too high but the 5th peak is the star of the show. it was only half the length from the ground to the knee. and it was perfect for a high speed jump. yes. a high speed jump. i have jumped it lots of times before. and near accidents have occoured. but i didnt know what was in store for me today. as i approach the tiny peak. i rev-ed and accelerated. excited, adrenaline raced through my body making me over confident of the jump ahead. my front wheel touched the base of the peak. the next moment, i was in the air. i pulled back on the headset to make it a super high jump. the next moments i could only remember is that my two feet are touching the ground. then the grass grew taller and taller and closer and taller. i blacked out. not literally. but closing my eyes to ignore the reality. i could believe what has happened. a sudden change of events from the norm. my hands instinctly took of the specs on my face to brace it for impact. i shut my eyes the moment of darkness felt long and thin. i reopened my eyes. staring at me in my hands are my specs. i quickly inspected for damage. but none was to be found. immense pain started to creep in. my hands. my legs. my chest. all from the abrasion of thinly grass blades and rough sandy ground on skin. scarlet red liquid started oozing out from the wounds. i couldnt stand up. i just didnt have the energy. but i did. i stood up. defying my body;s wants. i stood up to look at my trashed bike. i stood up to look at how far i must have fallen and flown. and it seemed like a good 3metres. i must have been lucky. there was not much of damage done at that point of time. tired and wounded, i trotted home. my kaki, thats what they call em', picked up my dropped headlight worth 50dollars. thats why he was so slow behind me. i showed a sign of gratitude towards him. he asked if i have left any more items behind. i inspected my bike to find, horrors of horrors, my brakelight bracket has broken off. even the wiring was ripped off from its roots. we retraced our steps to the accident site to search for it. but to our dismay, we found nothing. even after combing the area 2 times over. i gave up on the brakelight. it will never be found. my pedal was dented and the other lights were out of perfect aglinment as a result. even the seat was tilted towards the left. but it didnt really matter to me at the point of time. i could repair it when i get home. i just wanna go home. wash up and go to sleep. looking back at the accident now, i must have pulled hard on the headset, the bike rotated to a 90 degree angle, perpendicular to the ground. that was where my feet touched the floor and the momentem of the moving bike threw the bike forwards. letting it fly before me. my hands, still firmly aattached to the handlebars must have followed the momentem of the bike. i fell forwards with my hands leaning out in front of me. the grass grew taller and taller and taller. and i closed my eyes. that must have been what happened.
